Loved the chips and salsa to start...house margarita was just what I needed and food was just what we expected from a traditional Mexican restaurant. Also loved that there was no wait...not a touristy location, but that made it even better!

HIDDEN GEM! This place is AMAZING and the food is the best Mexican I have had, EVER! The margaritas are to die for and have a wonderful kick to them. My family has been here one week and are back currently for the second time, we loved it that much! Rice is amazing - chicken fajitas and the chicken fajita burrito were life changing - and the piñatas on stage are not creepy at all. Really a great place for good food and fun!

We were a party of 8 and thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. The waiter, Tommy was a hoot and made it even more fun. The menu must have at least 50 items and several house specialties. You can't go wrong eating here.

We arrived at 2pm in afternoon so I am not sure if this made a difference on our food and service. I would mark 1.5 stars for service. Only two staff members in the dining room area and one of those were running the bar area. Once we were seated it took about 10 minutes for the staff to come back and take drink orders. We went ahead and ordered our meals at the same time. The place was basically empty so there should not have been such a long wait. Drinks were arrived fairly quickly. Took a while for chips to arrive and our meals arrived almost immediately afterwards. Drink refills were almost non-exsistent, tried several times to get one of the two staff members attention when they checked on other tables and ignored us. Finally had to call out to someone for refilla. At that time our meal was over. Sat and waiting for our check, started thinking the meal might be free after all. One person in our party asked for check and was told that they were coming. Staff proceeded to give check and clise out a tables that arrived after us before they gave us our check. Not a good service experience at all. Food this would get 2.5 to 3 depending o. Who you spoke to in our party. I got chicken enchiladas which had no flavor. My son loved his fajitas which are hard to mess up. My daughter thought the rice the best she ever had. So go for the food and ignore the service since your on vacation any ways. I hope that service was so poor since we went at an off time.

Outstanding- they must have improved since the bad reviews. It reminds me of CALI Mexican food. I had carne asada fajitas. My hubby had the pork carnitas plate. The food was very good. The service was top notch. We will return!

We were visiting the island and wanted Mexican food so we tried this place based on most of the good reviews. The tostada was excellent and pretty big. We started with guacamole which was good but bland. The burritos were good but had a lot of sauce on it so ask for the sauce on the side or none. the fish tacos were good too ! Very nice ambiance too !

Yes they have moved to different, non homey, location but life's still good at Mi Tierra. The pitcher-perfect margaritas still sneak up like you would hope one of life's little pleasures to do. Even in a totally empty restaurant in mid afternoon, after 18 holes at The Country Club of Hilton Head, the food was as good if not better than ever. We'll be back.

Really is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever eaten at. The service was great and the food was awesome. Atmosphere was really cool. You can call ahead here also to avoid a long wait. We came with a party of 11 and got great service. Everyone liked their food.

I had the seafood frahitas with rice and beans. It was very fresh and tasty. The nacho chips tasted home made and very good too. This restaurant was right outside the campground we are staying at, and we were able to walk here.

Came back for summer vacation to find that this place had moved from its former location. They must have lost their chef and most of the personnel. This used to be our go to Mexican place on the island but no more. Food was fair at best and what's with the big screen projection TV!?! Won't return.

The service was alright here overall and the inside is fun. I had the fajita burrito which was pleasantly packed with beef but sadly lacking in flavor and overall drenched in too much sauce. Also one of my companions had the chimichangas which were also lacking in flavor. However the rest of the people I was with enjoyed their food but didn't think it was anything special. I'd recommend trying a different place first.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
